The Human Being is an amazing Creation…

Friday was Pain

Saturday was Rest

Sunday was Impatience…my body gross and my hair even more so, my husband and I try to figure out ways to deal with these issues at hand. My husband is an Engineer so he lives for these challenges, invention is his drug…first challenge, my post surgery body…easy enough, body wipes, and lots of patience. Second challenge, hair…thank goodness for Suave Rosemary and Mint shampoo, and a big ‘ol corner bathtub! got myself maneuvered sideways and with the help of a water pitcher and our combined total of three hands…got my hair washed. Relief!

Monday is Frustration…frustration with doctors who don’t return calls, people who don’t think and a body that is not cooperating. More later…

Post Surgery

PAIN…..

PILL…..

AHHH….

PAIN….

PILL….

AHHH…

REPEAT….

This pretty well describes the past 48 hours…had surgery Thursday morning and today I feel almost human. Two bone spurs, frayed muscle endings and a repair to the rotator cuff. Doc told my husband that the shoulder was ‘imploding’, much longer and I was probably looking at a complete rebuild…good grief!

I have already begun to do simple things, like squeezing the ball on the end of the splint, opening and closing the hand and moving the fingers up and down. trying to follow post surgery instructions as closely and completely as possible.

Walked outside with my sweetie last evening, nice breeze, temps were pleasant, listened to the windchimes and watched him do some watering…so jealous, wished I could water the plants! Something very therapeutic in so simple a task, the sound of the water, the smell of it hitting the ground, the knowledge that you are providing sustenance to your garden…almost as good as a pill! Shoot, in some cases even better than a pill! Until tomorrow!

Another Surgery?

Why yes, thank you Sir, may I have another?

Yes…I know, a bad line from an equally bad movie. Well, naughty anyways! Ever wondered why some people are just so stinking healthy, seemingly effortlessly, and others…no matter how hard they try, just can’t seem to catch a break, through no fault of their own. These people may do all the right things and yet are always on the verge of falling apart. What gives? Genetics/heredity? Oh well…regardless of the how or why, the fact remains I am looking at yet another surgery. Seems I am fertile ground to bone spurs and osteoarthritis. This will be #5, all have involved spurs and/or arthritis, number one was for carpel tunnel syndrome. Number five will be on my shoulder, two spurs and a rotator cuff tear, joy…

It is my desire to have you follow me on my road to recovery. I will be doing some fairly intense physical therapy and will try to have all parties involved in my recovery offer advice that I can pass on to you, my fellow gardeners, that may help you avoid some of my pain. Look for their advice on my page ‘Advice from the Experts’
